Hello. My name is Jim and I'm a Rickenbackerholic. I thought I'd take the opportunity to introduce myself. I play a Rick 360/12 string guitar, fireglo finish, with stock hi-gain pickups. Not only do I play the usual jingle-jangle folk-rock material, but also have discovered that with a little delay, that the 12 string makes a great rockabilly guitar. My preferred style of playing I guess you could call hybrid picking, wherein I use a flat pick and put finger picks on my middle and ring fingers. Yes, I did learn that from the Roger McGuinn DVD. And then I discovered that several rockabilly players do that as well; most notably James Burton (except he only uses his middle finger). I teach guitar, banjo, and fiddle at the Americana Music Academy, in Lawrence, Kansas. JimK | |
